Black Gold is the new collaboration between Eric Ronick (Panic at the Disco, Ambulance Ltd.), Than Luu (M. Ward, Rachel Yamagata, shushshush), Siggy (POE, Panic channel, powerman5000, Justin Timberlake) and Alistair Paxton (The Metronomes, Stapleton) black gold formed at the beginning of 2006 while Eric and Than were on tour with Ambulance Ltd. and The Killers.
After touring, they immediately set up at Thinman Studios in Brooklyn and began writing and recording. The band lineup was complete with the addition of guitarist Alistair Paxton and bass player Siggy. The result is Black Gold, music with an addictive collection of songs evoking T-Rex, Satie, Chic, Quincy Jones-era Michael Jackson, Bowie, the brothers Gibb and the Band.

At SXSW in Austin, TX a couple weeks ago the BlogTalkRadio team was there to represent and produce shows for our hosts like DoC and Wiley. We handed out hundreds of BlogTalkRadio stickers (made by the great Sticker Giant) and over 130 original Cinch t-shirts to attendees.
The shirts turned out to be an unexpected hit. Sure, we thought we could give out quite a few but we expected to have many left for other events - not the case. It made traveling home easy!
The takeaway from this post should be that if you are designing promotional products make schwag that doesn’t look like schwag and that your conference team will get behind with a passion. Get feedback from your co-workers about designs and ask them if they would wear or use the item you are creating while not in the presence of your CEO. And, lastly, know your intended audience.

Actor, singer, model and “Days of Our Lives” star Marcus Patrick visits RealTALK! Live on BlogTalkRadio.
Marcus is a busy man. In addition to joining RealTALK Live tonight at 11pm ET, he’s about to start filming “Burning Sands,” is in production on the drama “The Dark Party,” and has wrapped work cast in the romantic comedy “I Do. . .I Did.” Marcus co-stars with Rosario Dawson in the edgy feature film “Descent,” which has gotten terrific reviews. He’s also one of the leads in the romantic comedy “Love and Other Four-Letter Words.” He was recently Jamal Cudahy on ABC TV’s “All My Children” and featured on “CSI: Miami.”
