Kevin Captures Round 2 of Battle for America’s Top Blog Talker

October 8, 2008

Call him The Close Call Kid!

kr

Kevin: a slim victory.

Kevin Ross of Los Angeles edged out Chad Everson of Princeton, Minn. - by one vote - in Round 2 of Battle of the Blog Talkers, the weeklong FOX News Radio tournament to determine the best BlogTalkRadio talkers from each side of the political spectrum.

Kevin’s squeaker of a victory (decided by listeners voting via mobile-text message and an online poll) was announced today by FOX News Radio anchor Spencer Hughes on Fox Across America, which is hosting the historic debate series.

The Heading Right hosts debated whether the fact that many GOP leaders voted against Congress’ $700 billion Wall Street bailout signaled a sea change in the Republican party.

This evening at 10 p.m. ET on BlogTalkRadio’s The Kevin Ross Show, Kevin will discuss the presidential debates, as well as the Battle of the Blog Talkers competition. So be sure to call in and congratulate him.

And later tonight, we’ll tell you what topic tomorrow’s Heading Right contestants will be scrapping over, and which of the two Heading Left contestants won Round 3 today.

So don’t touch that mouse under any circumstances.

Hulk Hogan Thanks You – for Bringing the Fight to Establish a Flag for America’s Fallen Soldiers to Capitol Hill!

October 8, 2008

Back in July, when BlogTalkRadio kicked off a national campaign to establish an official flag (below) honoring the 1.6 million U.S. military troops who have died in action since America’s founding 232 years ago, we could only hope Uncle Sam would take notice.

Ditto Hulk Hogan, who did his part to rally the nation by telling us, “The Honor and Remember program is very, very cool.”

HH

Hulk Hogan: Don't tread on our dead.

Well, not only has Uncle Sam since taken notice, he’s taken the cause to Capitol Hill!

Thanks to the work of U.S. Representatives Thelma Drake (R-VA) and Randy Forbes (R-VA), a bill to “designate the Honor and Remember Flag as an official symbol to recognize… the Armed Forces who died in the line of duty” was intro- duced to Congress on Sept. 26.

According to Congressional findings contained in the bill:

—”Since the Revolutionary War, more than one million members of the United States Armed Forces have paid the ultimate price by sacrificing their lives in the line of duty.”

—”The contributions of those fallen members of the Armed Forces are deserving of national recognition.”

—”Currently, there is no officially recognized symbol that acknowledges members of the Armed Forces who died in the line of duty.”

If enacted, the federal legislation would require that the flag be flown at the White House, Capitol, World War II Memorial, Korean War Veterans Memorial, Vietnam Veterans Memorial, national cemeteries, and other federal grounds.
