David: Now the REAL battle begins, Kid!

The Battle of the Blog Talkers winners will join FOX Across America host Spencer Hughes in co-hosting four live, hour-long editions of the national show through Friday, Oct. 24.

This special Election 2008 series gets under way at 8 a.m. ET, with Heading Right’s Kevin coming to you from his hometown of Los Angeles, and Heading Left’s David from his hometown of Rome, Ga.

Earlier this month, the talk titans beat out six other contestants in a week- long FOX News Radio tournament to determine Ameirca’s best talkers from each side of the political spectrum.

Their victories (decided by listeners voting via mobile-text message and an online poll) were announced Oct. 13 by Spencer on Fox Across America, which hosted the historic debate series.

Tina Brown

Tina Brown

Today’s BlogTalkRadio highlights feature three guest spots by women who are household names. As always, all times EST:

Good news comes in threes.

If you grew up in reading New York City newspapers as I did, you know the name Liz Smith is synonymous with gossip.  Today, Liz visits with the Midlife Gals and she’s sure to have anecdotes galore! Pour yourself a martini and tune in at 7:00 p.m. With the Midlife Gals anything can happen.

If dish isn’t your thing, we have another great role model on tap: Journalist and author Tina Brown will be visiting with Shaun Daily and Eric Olsen on BlogTalkRadio Today to discuss her new website The Daily Beast. This not-to-be-missed event begins this afternoon at 2:00 p.m. EST.

Rounding out our power trio is Jane Chestnutt, Woman’s Day’s Editor in Chief, on Live Well Every Day today at noon. Jane will discuss women and friendship while interviewing Elaine Zelley, Professor of Communication at LaSalle University.

While we always love when you visit our live segments, calling in to our hosts and participating in chat, don’t fret if you miss any of these segments. All programs are available on demand as podcast immediately following the live broadcast.

SitePoint Answers All Your Questions About BlogTalkRadio

October 20, 2008

Almost every day at least one member of the BlogTalkRadio team is asked a number of questions about our site, service and technology. That’s not a bad thing; we enjoy talking about what we do here.  If you’re one of the curious, we’d like to direct your attention to a blog post featuring many of the answers to the most asked questions.

Josh Catone, from the Site Point blog, spoke with BlogTalkRadio’s CEO and Founder Alan Levy to bring his readers an informative, in-depth look at our social radio community. If you even wondered how many hosts are at BlogTalkRadio, how we make our money or how many shows air per day, stop by the Site Point blog and read Josh’s post.

Jonesing for a ‘Mix’ Fix?

October 20, 2008

Of course you are – and it doesn’t surprise us in the least.

After all, once you’ve developed a Mix habit, it’s nearly impossible to kick.

“My recording of ‘Amazing Grace’ changed the thinking about the song,” Sweet Judy Blue Eyes tell us.

“My recording of ‘Amazing Grace’ changed the thinking about the song,” Sweet Judy Blue Eyes tells us.

The good news is, we’re back tonight at 9 p.m. ET with yet another mind-blowing show, which answers such all-important questions as:

—How folk queen Judy Collins single-handedly put Amazing Grace on the musical map.

—Besides his ring-a-ding-ding way of swinging, what else Sinatra impersonator - and America’s Got Talent winner - Paul Salos has in common with the Chairman of the Board.

—Why R&B star Shanice does not – not by any stretch of the imagination – need a sex therapist.

—Which one of The Beatles blogging powerhouse Chris Garrett sounds like most.

—Why funny lady Katey Sagal refuses to do schtick while performing live.

—How Senator John McCain, hoops legend Charles Barkley and The Gingerbread Man from Shrek all wound up calling into TV Talk within one minute of each other (or did they?).

So don’t miss The Mix, hosted by everyone’s favorite pod jockey, Shaun Daily, tonight – and every Monday – at 9 p.m. ET!
