Blurb! Book of the Week: Daria DiGiovanni’s ‘Water Signs: A Story of Love and Renewal’

Now that summer is upon us in all its glory, you’ve no doubt been hunting frantically for two things: (1) a bikini that makes you look 15 20 pounds slimmer and (2) the perfect beach read.

While we can’t help you with the former (particularly if you’re a guy), you are in luck on the literary front.

Because our resident critics, Sally Shields and Dr. Kent, have selected as Blurb! Book of the Week Daria Anne DiGiovanni‘s Water Signs: A Story of Love and Renewal.

Daria:

Daria: Adept at the ever-popular romance genre.

This 435-page novel tells the story of Madeline Rose, a sheltered woman of 25 whose father is a prominent Philadelphia surgeon. After a bitter breakup with her first real beau, Madeline meets hunky yet penniless Ken Lockheart, who’s fresh out of the Navy.

Neither Madeline nor Ken is prepared for the ensuing odyssey of passion and heartbreak that leads them to a divinely-guided denouement

Like her heroine, Daria was born in Philly. And at age 27, she relocated to Florida, where she has been pursuing her writing career ever since.

In recent years, the Boca Raton resident, who remains a devoted Eagles fan – and never misses a game during football season – has contributed to The Happy Herald, On the Inside and Boca Kidz Magazine, among other publications.  She has also launched two successful blogs, Muzz Musings and Freedom Bright.

Water Signs fulfills my childhood dream of becoming a novelist,” she says, “which is something I’ve been promising my supportive, patient parents for many years!”

Every Wednesday at 9 p.m. ET, Blurb! hosts Sally and Dr. Kent review not books themselves but prerecorded pitches from five writers whose literary works are hot off the presses.water-signs-cover

And each scribe gets a mere three minutes to convince the hosts that theirs is the book worth cracking. But if they succeed, they capture the coveted Book of the Week title.

That means Sally and Dr. Kent post it prominently on the Blurb! website, just as they did with Daria’s book.

To top it all off, the winning author gets a guest spot on the show, during which to pitch his or her book live to listeners worldwide, just as Daria will appear on tonight’s show.
