Poet Maya Angelou

Making History Happen talks to renowned poet Maya Angelou.

Angelou says that “you shouldn’t do anything if you don’t have passion for it… to bring all your passion to anything, it means you dare to study how to do it well.” She says that “Whenever you find yourself without an answer, or answers… just stop. Put yourself at ease… and realize that you have to understand who you are… if you can just stop and meditate, ask for directions, ask for guidance.” She talks about her role as an “auntie” giving life advice to young women that their mothers cannot, saying that “the mother cannot talk about sex and sexual activity; the auntie can.”
