Making History Happen talks to Lee Daniels, director of such films as The Butler and Precious: Based on the Novel “Push” by Sapphire.
Daniels talks about working with producer Laura Ziskin on The Butler, known as the producer of Pretty Woman. The Butler was Ziskin’s last film. Daniels says that she “felt that there weren’t enough African-American films of substance, and that she wanted to make this her legacy.” “a phenomenal amount of research… I worked with Will Haygood, who wrote the article in the Washington Post about the butler’s family.”
