Colin Ferguson may have found love on the little screen, but real-life romance has once again escaped him—no thanks to his TV success.
Interviewed on Rex Sikes’ Movie Beat, the star of the hit Syfy series Eureka opens up about breaking up yet again.
When host Rex Sikes asks, “Do you have a social life?” the Canadian actor replies:
“I’ve never had a girlfriend who’s survived. Every single girlfriend has come to their senses a couple months in.
“This great, sweet girl I was dating, she turned to me at one point on some weekend and said, ‘I don’t see you. I can’t contact you. I have a life in another city. I simply can’t do this.’
“And there’s really nothing you can say. You sort of turn to her and go, ‘I completely understand. I wish it was different, but I’m on a six-year contract and this isn’t going to change,'” adds Colin, whose Eureka character, Sheriff Jack Carter, has been getting busy with Dr. Allison Blake (played by Salli Richardson-Whitfield) in the show’s fourth season.
“I’m actually nursing myself through a heartbreak right now.”
That recent squeeze (we’re guessing) would be E. Fairysistere, whom Colin began dating in 2007, after breaking up with, Renee Faia—best known for playing Cher in the 1999 TV flick And the Beat Goes On: The Sonny and Cher Story.
Colin and Renee reportedly split in 2007. “We love each other to bits… but it’s really difficult because of the work,” he said at the time.
Despite his dismal love life, Colin’s work ethic has paid off. This year alone, he has starred in two flicks: Lake Placid 3 and Life’s a Beach.
