Carolina and Claudio: Busy doin' the new New York thing on BTR.

In a feature story headlined “Washington Heights and Inwood Hit the (Online) Airwaves,” The Manhattan Times writes:

“Northern Manhattanites fill the blogosphere with posts, tweets, and all manner of online musings about art, photography, cooking, mommyhood and anecdotes about our streets. Now the next, next thing seems to have arrived.

“Local bloggers Carolina Pichardo and Claudio Cabrera have teamed up to broadcast the Washington Heights & Inwood Radio Show.

“The idea came up after learning that broadcasting live radio is not as complex as most of us probably think. After sitting in as a guest on another show, Cabrera learned about www.blogtalkradio.com, a Web site platform that allows for broadcasting as long as you have a computer, a microphone, and a phone.”

The article goes on to quote Claudio as saying:

“We wanted to make sure our community had another avenue to express themselves and hear the thoughts of their fellow residents. The show is not about news updates-it’s more about elaborating on it, along with other issues going on that might not get the attention they deserve.

“Everyone tweets and Facebooks, but radio is such a classic platform. It’s a throwback of sorts in this day and age. We wanted to bring that classic medium to a classic neighborhood.”
