Julian Lennon has said goodbye to fiancée Lucy Bayliss.
May Pang—who dated Julian’s dad, John Lennon, during the late Beatle’s so-called “lost weekend” in the late ’70s—reveals that Julian is not only single, but has scant romantic prospects on the horizon.
Dishing on Dinner Specials, her new BlogTalkRadio show launched Oct. 9 to coincide with what would have been John’s 69th birthday, May tells fellow rock princesses Chris O’Dell, author of the new book Miss O’Dell: My Hard Days and Long Nights with the Beatles, the Stones, Bob Dylan, Eric Clapton, and the Women They Loved, Nancy Lee Andrews, author of A Dose of Rock ‘n’ Roll, and Tina Firestone:
“A couple of weeks ago, I’m sitting having drinks with Julian in New York and he and I were talking about all these people around us.
“And I said, ‘I haven’t been with someone in a relationship for four years.’
“And he goes, ‘Oh, I haven’t been with someone in a number of years, too,'” May adds of Julian, who won the 1985 Grammy for Best New Artist for his debut album, Valotte, which yielded the top-10 single Too Late For Goodbyes.
“And I looked around the room, at our group, and I realized everybody there had somebody—a wife or girlfriend—and they were all happy. They were talking about their kids and this and that.
“So I said, ‘Jules, if you find somebody, let me know.’ And he said, ‘Yea.’
“And we’re both lookin’ at each other like, Whoa, we’re the only two here who don’t have someone.”
Julian, who has never been wed, had dated Lucy for more than a decade.
But last year, after he reportedly spent Christmas alone, rumors surfaced that the couple was on the outs.
