Bai Ling: I’m Happy to Snag White Women’s Roles

Bai Ling can safely say that her ethnicity hasn’t stood in the way of getting hired in Hollywood.

Interviewed on Mr. Media, the Chinese stunner discusses landing a leading role in the recently-wrapped feature Love Ranch, co-starring Joe Pesci, Gina Gershon and Helen Mirren, and directed by Helen’s Oscar-winning hubby, Taylor Hackford.

“I got cast for Love Ranch, for which they originally wanted someone with big boobs, blonde hair, 20 years old—and totally a white girl,” she tells host Bob Andelman.

“But I got it. And I’m pretty happy to play a white woman’s part,” adds Bai, whose latest flick, A Beautiful Life, co-stars Debi Mazar and Dana Delany, and opens Oct. 2.

“That gives me much more range as an actress.”

Love Ranch, which tells the story of a real-life married couple who opened the first legal brothel in Nevada, is slated to open later this year.
