SoundBits: ‘Movie Addict HQ’ Host Betty Jo Tucker
Movie addicts know Betty Jo Tucker well. She has a passion for movies the way some of us (who shall remain nameless) have a passion for chocolate. Each week on Movie Addict Headquarters she brings us movielicious guests, tribute shows and a look at the flicks we grew up with - or those that promise to shape our future. And this year alone, the Colorado Springs, Colo., resident has interviewed such stars as Barry Bostwick, Joe Mantegna, Lorna Luft and Tim Reid. We’re pleased to feature Betty Jo in this week’s installment of SoundBits.
Give us a 15-second pitch for your BlogTalkRadio show – why should listeners tune in?
Movie Addict Headquarters offers fun and enlightening discussions about all things cinematic!
Tell us two things listeners would be surprised to learn about you?
No surprises – I’ve revealed everything in Confessions of a Movie Addict, my life-at-the- movies autobiography, as well as in It Had to Be Us, a romantic memoir my husband and I co-wrote under the pseudo- nyms Harry and Elizabeth Lawrence.
Who’s your broadcasting hero?
Nikki Starr. She hosts Nikki Rocks the Politics with such incredible energy and enthusiasm! Plus, her unique voice draws listeners in while inspiring us to “live, love, laugh – and pay it forward.”
If you could book any person on earth as a guest on your show, who would it be and why?
Johnny Depp (be still, my heart!). Why? Duh.
As we speak, what are you wearing?
My usual black slacks, black top, and sparkly tap shoes.
What’s the strangest thing you’ve ever done while in the middle of hosting your show?
Dropped my phone. That’s not very strange, you say? Yes, it is – because I was also practicing a High School Musical 3 dance routine at the time. Do not try this at home, folks.

Betty Jo is truly a heart of gold. Love her show, and mostly her genuine enthusiasm for what she does.
You’re a gem, Betty Jo.
As someone who knew you in your “other life” in academia, I wonder how you’ve had time to watch so many movies and achieve so much as a radio talk show host, as well.
