Host Jon Hansen: Master of Social Media Has Tricky Dick’s Kids in His Sights

Jon Hansen’s enthusiasm for BlogTalkRadio is, it seems safe to say, unrivaled among his fellow hosts. After all, he wrote the book (or at least a book) on the platform, titled Your Show Will Go Live in 5 Seconds. When not expounding on social media, the logistics and management guru, who formerly served as President of e-Procure Solutions Corp., can be found at his home in Gatineau, Canada, just across the Ottawa River from Ottawa, hosting PI Window on Business. There, he tackles such timely topics as Can the Health Care Industry Be Trusted? Unfriendly Skies: How Safe Is Air Travel? and Protecting Your Electronic Image. On that note, please welcome this week’s SoundBits subject, aka the hardest working man in north of Buffalo, Mr. Jon Hansen…soundbits-wordpress11Give us a 15-second pitch for your show-why should listeners tune in?

Engaging, thought-provoking, informative and entertaining, we tackle the hottest and most controversial topics of the day, with guests who include bestselling authors, global experts and leading political figures.

Host Michael Catricola: It’s a Big Heavy-Metal World After All

In the 26 months since we began profiling hosts in this column, we’ve never run across one who sent us testimonials from celebrity guestsuntil now. That host is Michael Catricola, and his show, Heavy Metal Mayhem, is arguably the Internet’s leading source of news, tunes and interviews from the heavy-metal scene. And here, to cite just two, are his testimonials: “Mike is a real music guyand I can’t believe he knows so much of my personal music history!” says Quiet Riot drummer Frankie Banali. “You and your great show are another reason why metal is still alive and getting HUUUGGGE again!” raves Rainbow bassist Craig Gruber. Now, the New York City resident (Staten Island, to be preciseand damn proud of it) knows whence he speaks. During his youth, Michael played bass for a Big Apple metal band called Stillborn. And though today he makes his living as a construction rep for Con Edison, he continues to carry the torch to metal fans around the globe. On that note, please put your hands togetherand stomp up a f*&%! stormfor our SoundBits subject of the week…

‘80’s hard rock and heavy metal is more than Judas Priest, Iron Maiden and Ozzy Osbourne. There were hundreds of other bands, and this is one of the only shows to feature them all. Our motto on Heavy Metal Mayhem is, Playing the Best of All the Rest.

Host Tim Gordon Keeps It Reel While Covering Tinseltown’s A-List Set

What kind of person boasts that he spends the majority of each working day watching movies—and has seen more than 10,000 of them in the process? A person like Tim Gordon. As president of the Washington, D.C., Film Critics Association, a movie reviewer for local PBS affiliate WETA-TV, and host of BlogTalkRadio’s Keeping It Reel, Tim is always game to screen flicks of any caliber. Except, of course, when chatting with Hollywood powerhouses like Tyler Perry. Confabs like that happen during the balance of his working day, while he and his correspondents are attending junkets for such flicks as Tyler’s For Colored Girls, Angelina Jolie’s The Tourist or Denzel Washington’s Unstoppable. And on that cinematic note, it’s time to go live to our nation’s capital for a chat with this week’s SoundBits subject, aka Film Gordon…

‘Night Views Radio’ Host Robert Saul: Depression Never Sounded So Funny

If ever there were a BlogTalkRadio show on which anything goes, Night Views is it. Like what, you ask? Like an interview with Donna Simpson, the 42-year-old mom who spends $750 a week on food and wears (no joke) size XXXXXXXL dresses—during which she said, “I’d like to be fatter.” Or how about Jim Florentine? Soon after dropping in to chat, the funnyman set the record straight on his breakup with Howard Stern’s sidekick Robin Quivers. “We’re two adults,” he said. “We’re not in high school going, ‘I’m never talking to you again!’ ‘Well, f— you. I’m not either!'” Better yet, Everybody Loves Raymond star Brad Garrett. Among the projects he showed up to plug was the Disney feature Tangled, in which he plays Hook Hand Thug opposite Mandy Moore’s Rapunzel. The only problem was, he described the flick as being about “this hot chick that lives in a castle, but oddly enough it’s her pubic hair that she lets out the window.” So it’s no wonder we’re psyched to have as this week’s SoundBits subject, the puppet-master behind such interviews, Robert Saul. The self-described stay-at-home dad, who makes his home in Mays Landing, N.J., joins us live in three, two…

The Bottom Line on ‘The Bottom Line’? The Most Memorable Damn Sports Talk Period

For anyone who has yet to sample The Bottom Line Sports Show, here’s an anecdote that’s indicative of just how entertainingand unexpectedit can be: Five months ago, while retired NBA great Penny Hardaway was on announcing his intention to try and rejoin the Miami Heat to play side by side with newly-signed superstar LeBron James, Larry Fitzgerald dropped in to join the conversation. But before he got talking football, the NFL superstar revealed why he was calling from a friend’s cell. “My phone fell in the lake today,” he told host Gerald Brown. “My home boy pushed me in the water with my shorts on and my phone was in my pocket!” On that note, we now take you live to Teaneck, N.J., where Gerald (an athletic director at the Boys Club of New York by day) and his co-hostsJonathan Foy, Donahue Baker and Howard Cowartbroadcast from their proudly proclaimed “Mancave”…soundbits-wordpress11Give us a 15-second pitch for your showwhy should listeners tune in?

Many of the tops stars from the world of sports and entertainment regularly appear as guests. Plus, the show is executive produced by former NBA stars Charles Oakley and Penny Hardawaywho are never shy about voicing their opinions. And for our female listeners we’ve got actress Cherie Johnson of Punky Brewster and Family Matters fame, who does a regular segment called “What’s Cherie’s Commentary?” In short, The Bottom Line Sports Show is a heaping portion of sports talk with a double shot of humor.

Host Karl Denninger: Wanna Know What’s Really Cookin’ with the Economy? Tune in to the Ticker Guy

When Karl Denninger talks, people listen—by the tens of thousands each month here on BlogTalkRadio. That’s pretty impressive considering that our Market Ticker host intros each show as follows: “Warning! The following program may cause cognitive seizure, sudden and violent recognition of the truth in our capital markets, and change in voter affiliation.” But Karl, who makes his home in the Gulf Coast town of Niceville, Fla., is more than just a compelling on-air voice. In 2008, his columns on his Market Ticker blog inspired FedUpUSA, a grassroots protest of Uncle Sam’s Bear Stearns bailoutwhich in turn paved the way for the Tea Party movement. And on that historic note, we now give you our SoundBits subject of the week, Karl “The Ticker Guy” Denninger…

A registered nurse by day, Leslie also co-hosts the year-old network’s companion BlogTalkRadio show, launched in April. Women On The Move is all about bringing important topics, people and things to the attention of our listeners. Whether we’re featuring interesting businesses and business owners on “Minding Our Business,” books and authors on “Worth Reading,” or stories on “The Round Table,” we deliver honest, entertaining and educational information. We are everyday people from all walks of life, and we try to approach each topic from a perspective that everyone can relate to. We also (in between arguing) have fun. And we realize that there’s no right or wrong answer or point of view. Most of all, as a lot of our information is now coming from the internet, and we want to help give regular people an opportunity to be heard.
