To you – and his millions of fans – David Baldacci may be the best- selling author of thrilling novels like Absolute Power and The Camel Club.
But to the U.S. government, he’s also a source of nefarious ideas that could save our nation from an act of mass destruction.
In an interview on The Alan Levy Show, David – whose latest page-turner is titled Divine Justice – tells host (and BlogTalkRadio CEO) Alan Levy that Uncle Sam has called on him to think like a terrorist in hopes of foiling real bad guys.
“The government [has] contacted me . . . to sort of get out-of-the-box thinking on different scenarios. They would say, ‘Here’s a doomsday scenario.’ And they would tell me what it was and say, ‘How would you go about doing that – how would you attack that facility?’” the writer reveals.
“And [I’d] come up with a way to do it and then they would take that way and – supposedly, I guess – reverse-engineer it to prevent it from ever happening the way [I’d] described.
“It’s commendable, that they would go to people outside the norm, outside of government, to try to brainstorm. I was flattered that they came to me, to sort of help protect the American people,” David continues – before adding this not-all-that-funny kicker:
“Of course, another part of me was terrified that they had to come to people like me to help protect the American people. ‘Cause you’re thinking, Don’t you have experts who take care of this?”
