Help Easton Keep Alert (and Win a Prize)!

Easton Ellsworth has been podcasting live for well over four hours now, taking the poverty-relief conversation to all four corners of the earth.

Couple that with the fact that he caught less than an hour’s sleep last night (to say nothing of that razor-thin Rocky Mountain air) and you’ve got the recipe for an unscheduled break – as seen here in this exclu- sive photo.

Easton

Easton: Befallen by a little blog action of the wrong sort.

Fortunately, the Denver-based U.S. Director for Blog Action Day 2008 snapped back quickly while moving into hour five of BlogTalkRadio’s 12-hour Talkathon for Poverty Relief. (Fortunately, too, his coffee cup was empty!)

But to help keep Easton alert through the program’s sign-off at midnight Eastern Standard Time, we’re asking you to call in and support his Herculean effort – while chatting about poverty relief, of course.

Here’s the number: (347)308-8594.

Now, the first listener who calls in with the names of the two Blog Action Day founders will win a prize.

So (to borrow an advertising cliché) don’t hesitate: Call now!

Hear the Voice of Blog Action Day – and Pass It on!

You can’t see it, but there’s a flurry of behind-the- scenes activity here at BlogTalkRadio as our historic 12-hour Talkathon for Poverty Relief unfolds.

While you’re taking in all the calls and interviews from around the globe, learning more about the poverty crisis and vying for one of the many prizes being offered up by our sponsors, our talkathon team is rocking the Skype backchannel to bring you all the action.

But it’s not about us, not by a long shot.

Today is about the more than 11,000 bloggers who are helping to create a meaningful dialogue about poverty. They’re sharing ideas for rising above poverty and how to empower poverty-sticken individuals and families.

To hear just a few of those dedicatded bloggers, click here.

A special thank you to BlogTalkRadio’s Jason Tucker for putting together this wonderful Blog Action Day montage.

Blog Action Day: How You Can Participate

As we posted earlier, BlogTalkRadio is taking part in an historic Blog Action Day event, a 12 hour talkathon for poverty. Lots of people are asking how they can help or participate in Blog Action Day events.  Here are a few things you can do:

  • Blog about Blog Action Day. Even if you don’t have poverty-related experiences to share or facts to relay, you can still link to participating blogs, point everyone to our talkathon or the Blog Action Day website, post our BlogTalkRadio Blog Action Day talkathon player on your website or just talk about the coolness of the day.
  • Tweet out Blog Action day updates on Twitter. The hash tag for the event is #bad08. Memorize it. Embrace it. Use it.
  • Talk about what’s going on. Discuss poverty and Blog Action Day on your favorite forums and social networks.
  • Visit participating blogs and offer your support in the comments section.
  • Donate to a worthy charity.
  • Listen to our talkathon, take part in the chat or call in to say hello on October 15!

To give you some incentive, we’re awarding prizes to random Blog Action Day bloggers. If you hear us mention your blog on the air, you have an hour to call in and win a prize.

What are these prizes we speak of? How about high-end beauty-product swag bags courtesy of Beauty Fix, or Jewelry from the Leakey Collection? And what blogger wouldn’t be interested in receiving a 30-minute consulting session from Chris Brogan, or a copy of Liz Strauss‘ or Chris Garrett‘s latest ebook? Performancing is even donating $100 to one lucky winner’s charity of choice. That’s just the tip of the ice berg! Thanks to generous sponsors, there will be prizes offered all day.

How are you participating?
