BlogTalkRadio Launches Heading Right and Heading Left Stations

BlogTalkRadio programming gets better every day.  So it should come as no surprise that we’ve just launched Heading Left and Heading Right stations.

As you know, we have plenty of great political shows. And these new stations will aggregate that content to bring you 11 live hours of listening, from breaking news to leading guests to the latest mudslinging of Election ’08.

Heading Right’s editor is none other than BlogTalkRado’s MediaLizzy, who’s jazzed about the new stations.

“Politics is really about two things: passion and love of country,” Lizzy tells us. “As the editor of Heading Right – and through Alan Levy‘s groundbreaking, 21st-century-ultimate-in-free-speech model – I’m excited and honored to build the bridge between right-leaning icons, leaders, and policy makers with real main street Americans.”

Adam Lambert, editor of the Heading Left station, is just as eager to get started.

“We are excited for the roll out of the Heading Left station and channel.  We have added a number of outstanding hosts over the past few months, and have had many excellent guests, including authors, personalities, strategists, Congressional officials as well as Representatives,” he says. “We look forward to continuing to grow the channel and get more interesting guests as Heading Left gains more exposure over the coming months.”

Stay tuned for more innovative programming from BlogTalkRadio.

Next week BTR Political Bloggers Debate Top Issues LIVE!

Ever wondered what it would be like if debates were unplanned and actually measured the debaters’ abilities to argue their respective sides? It seems the rhetoric that politicians deliver during the debates is always so stiff, not at all spontaneous or reflective of their knowledge and ability to think on their feet.

That’s why we are kicking off Bloggers Debates at Debate Central here on BlogTalkRadio. The idea is that two bloggers will square off on a few key issues, coming at them from their unique perspectives. Two of the topics will be mutually decided upon ahead of time, each for ten minutes, and the last third of the show is a wild card. Yes, the third topic of debate will be one hundred percent unplanned, coming from listeners, callers, or emails.

Which better bloggers to begin with than James Boyce of Heading Left and Smoking Politics, and Ed Morrissey of Captain’s Quarters and Heading Right? James contributes to the Huffington Post and is former Senior Advisor to John Kerry’s campaign, while Ed blogs at Captain’s Quarters, an incredibly popular politically Conservative site, and has interviewed Mitt Romney and John McCain for BTR among many others.

These two politically active and opinionated hosts will go head to head on Debate Central. These two very informed and passionate bloggers and BTR hosts will be tackling Fred Thompson’s impact on the Republican race, Bill Richardson and his plan for Iraq, and taking your calls for the final ten minutes of the debate. Get those topics ready!

Please make sure to let us know how you liked the event. We’d love your feedback so we can best bring you many more debates between the top political bloggers in the coming weeks!

Due to scheduling issues, the first official Bloggers Debate has been rescheduled for next Thursday June 21 at 7:30pm EST. Mark it down in your calendars! You won’t want to miss their intellectual arsenal, especially with an extra week to prepare!

Politically Speaking, We’re Going To Have A Great Next Day.

I was thrilled when Senator John Kerry joined Nate Wilcox and I on “Heading Left” on Monday. But that was just the start of what is turning out to be a remarkable week on BlogTalkRadio.

Tonight, we welcome The New Media Journal to BlogTalkRadio with their first show, “The Threat Of Radical Islamist Terrorism.” Featured guests include Dr. Harvey Kushner, Laura Mansfield and Jeffrey Epstein. This show airs at 9:00 p.m. Eastern.

Right after that, we welcome back Captain Ed of Captain’s Quarters who has two remarkable guests on his show. First, Ed welcomes Governor Tim Pawlenty of Minnesota to his show. Governor Pawlenty is National Co-Chairman of Senator John McCain’s Presidential Exploratory Committee and will discuss Senator McCain’s 2008 quest with Ed.

Following that, Ed welcomes on former Congressman Newt Gingrich to his show to discuss his potential 2008 campaign. Listen to the Captain tonight. That’s going to be a terrific show.

Tomorrow, we have two more great shows for political junkies. Alan Levy, founder of BlogTalkRadio, chats with Scott Kesterson on Scott’s show, The Words Of War. Scott is embedded in Afghanistan and will bring us his perspective and opinions straight from the battle zone.

Nate Wilcox and I will host another edition of “Heading Left” tomorrow, this time welcoming former Senator Mike Gravel from Alaska to our show. Senator Gravel is running for President in 2008 as well, and he will be on to discuss the war in Iraq and how the Congress can take the lead in stopping it.

Every day, more and more political hosts join BlogTalkRadio and more and more great shows are hosted and available for you to listen. People love talking politics here at BlogTalkRadio – join the conversation.
