Celebrating Martin Luther King Day With Jesse Epps

Martin Luther King Day celebrates the life and achievements of Martin Luther King Jr,  an influential American civil rights leader. He is most well-known for his campaigns to end racial segregation on public transport and for racial equality in the United States.

Hear from Natonal Treasure, Jesse Epps, who  was one of Dr. King’s best friends and closest confidants.  Jesse was with Dr. King on the day Dr. King was assassinated.  He believes his life was spared so he could  further the mission of Dr. King.

Forty years ago, Jesse Epps and the AFSCME AFL-CIO Union summoned Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. to Memphis, Tennessee to assist with that city’s sanitation workers strike. Unfortunately, for the civil rights movement, the nation and the entire world, an assassin’s bullet halted the profound dream of Dr. King.

Jesse Epps today however, is as much committed to the work of Dr. King and his dream as he was on April 4, 1968.  Jesse is also the Founder of the National Union of American Families (NUAF).
