Andrea Massacres Media Lizzy in Round 4 of Battle for America’s Best Blog Talker

Call her The Space Coast Queen!

Andrea Shea King of Cape Canaveral, Fla., whipped Elizabeth “Media Lizzy” Blackney of Bend, Ore., in Round 4 of Battle of the Blog Talkers – the weeklong FOX News Radio tournament to determine America’s best blog talkers from each side of the political spectrum.

Andrea: Florida force to be reckoned with.

The Radio Patriot blogger’s victory (decided by listen- ers voting via mobile-text message and an online poll) was announced today by FOX News Radio anchor Spencer Hughes on Fox Across America, which is host- ing the historic debate series.

Today, Andrea is mixing it up with Round 2 winner, fellow Heading Right host Kevin Ross, while Julie Pippert tussles with fellow Heading Left host David McLaughlin.

The four finalists are being given three minutes each to deliver a monologue on what they feel is the single most pressing topic facing our nation today.

One winner from each faction – who will be revealed Monday on FOX Across America – will go on to co-host a full week of Election 2008 specials with Spencer, beginning October 20.

BlogTalkRadio Hosts Go Big-Time—on FOX—for Election Showdown

Way back in 2004, when John Kerry was challenging George W. Bush for the highest office in the land, few Americans had ever heard the word blog—let alone spent much of their free time devouring the most passionate and incisive among them.

What a difference an embattled administration makes.fox-btr-bbt-300x250

Today, blogging is not only the New Journalism, it’s a major force in shaping our nation’s political opinions.

So it should come as no surprise that FOX News Radio has selected eight of BlogTalkRadio’s most passionate and incisive hosts to voice their opinions about Election 2008 in the mainstream.

Beginning Monday, Oct. 6 at 2 p.m. ET, four hosts from our Heading Left Channel and four from Heading Right will square off during a weeklong, one-on-one tournament that will determine the best blog talker from each side of the political spectrum.

Election 2008: Battle of the Blog Talkers unfolds on FOX Across America, which is hosted by Spencer Hughes and carried on FOXNewsRadio.com and Sirius XM Radio.  (To hear more about this special, click here now.)

Lynne: Leading off the the left.

Lynne Lupien: Leading off the the left.

In Round 1, Spencer will moderate a debate between two Heading Left hosts, who will each have five minutes of uninterrupted time to respond to the same topic. Listeners then vote (via mobile-text message and online poll) for their favorite blog talker, who in turn moves onto Round 3. Meanwhile, two Heading Right hosts square off in Round 2, with the most popular moving onto Round 4. And in Round 5, the Heading Left and Heading Right victors go head to head.

After each round, the topics will be opened to discussion with Spencer, as well as with listeners calling into the show.

Then, throughout the week of Oct. 20, live from 8 to 9 a.m. EDT, the Heading Left and Heading Right victors will join Spencer in co-hosting a special FOX News Radio Election 2008 series.

Here are the BlogTalkRadio hosts who’ll be doing battle:

First Look at Sarah Palin Action Figures!

What’s the next best thing to a pitbull in lipstick?

Owning one of your very own!

Today on BlogTalkRadio’s Media Lizzy at 3 p.m. ET, host Elizabeth Blackney talks to Herobuilders.com CEO Emil Vicale about his newest political weapon: the Sarah Palin action figure.

Vicale’s lifelike reproductions of the GOP vice-presidential candidate (below) – which follow in the footsteps of his popular Obamakins doll – go on sale today in what’s bound to be a brisk memorabilia market.

If you want the Executive Sarah, complete with signature black raincoat, it’ll cost you just $27.95.

But we bet Super Hero Sarah, complete with a .45-caliber sidearm, will fetch more on eBay a decade from now – so forking over an extra two bucks for that bad girl may not be such a bad idea.

BTR At the DNC

You know you’ve arrived as a major source for news and more when your hosts are invited to cover major events. BlogTalkRado is proud to announce a couple of our hosts attended and broadcasted from the Democratic National Convention in Denver this week. In addition to these broadcasts, many of our political hosts offered armchair coverage.

I’m pleased to bring you highlights of the DNC by our BlogTalkRadio hosts.

  • Shaun Daily has been broadcasting live from the DNC every day. To hear Shaun’s segments, interviews and perspectives listen to Live from the Event.
  • Nikki Starr, Media Lizzy and Shaun Daily are Rocking the Politics and this week the topic, of course, is the DNC.
  • The Clinton4McCain radio show is also featuring discussion and analysis from the convention.

I know many of our political talk show hosts had plenty to say about the 2008 Democratic National Convention. If I missed your segment, do feel free to share in the comments.

Rock on,

Deb

Media Lizzy: ‘Heading Right’ One Year (and counting)

Media Lizzy

The first thing they teach us in blogging school is to be passionate about our topic. As someone who offers tips to others on how to blog, it’s hard to define passion; you either have it or you don’t. Today, I learned more about passion during a 15-minute Skype call than in all my years blogging. Trust me when I tell you there is no one more passionate about her topic than Media Lizzy.

Lizzy and I probably don’t see eye to eye politically, but there is no doubt in my mind she loves doing what she does and lives for politics. When she speaks, you can hear the passion.

It was a fortunate meeting on MyBlogLog that brought us Media Lizzy. BlogTalkRadio‘s own Amy Domestico met Lizzy while doing a little social networking and the rest, as they say, is history. We’re happy to report Lizzy is celebrating a year Heading Right with us. It’s lucky for us, and Lizzy’s listeners, that she made the transition from full-time electoral politics to full-time radio politics. Lizzy realized she had an opportunity to reach people and truly discuss the issues “without a filter.” She noticed the same television news people asking the candidates the same exact questions and felt she could go beyond scripted television news – and she has.

And like Lizzy, all our amazing hosts can broadcast their views and talk without fear of censorship and that’s a beautiful thing.

I asked Lizzy if she had any tips to share with other hosts for putting on a successful show and she said this: “Trust your instinct and be true to yourself. If your listeners have a positive experience, they’ll be with you every time.”  In fact, she recommends scheduling programs for the same time each day or week (what’s known as “appointment listening”) because people will be more likely to tune in if they know when to find you.

Lizzy offered one last tip, and it’s a good one: Take advantage of social-networking sites like Twtter, MyBlogLog and FaceBook to promote shows and spread your message.

MediaLizzy is so passionate she has no desire to do anything else. Being a host on BTR has exceeded her expectations and she hopes to do this for a long time to come – and we hope she does too!
