blogtalkradio-101

If you’re new to BlogTalkRadio, you no doubt have already visited the BlogTalkRadio Learning Center, with its useful tips and screencasts. Did you know there are also a couple of shows you can listen to that will help you get started?

BlogTalkRadio 101

The first, BlogTalkRadio 101 is hosted by Nikki Starr. Nikki answers all of your questions about BlogTalkRadio, especially those that have to do with getting started. Each week, Nikki  takes calls, answer questions from chat and touch on issues having to do with equipment, switchboard, chatrooms and the legalities of using music for your show.

No question is too small or too silly and Nikki answers in a thoughtful, easy to understand manner. If anything about BlogTalkRadio confuses you, or if you just have a question, stop by. You’ll be happy you did!

BlogTalkRadio 101 airs every Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. EDT, but don’t worry if you missed the live eppy, you can also catch the archived episodes on demand.

blogtalkradio-insider1 BlogTalkRadio Insider

BlogTalkRadio Insider goes inside BlogTalkRadio and brings you interviews with the folks who work all our behind the scenes magic.  Co-hosted by TV Talk’s Shaun Daily and BlogTalkRadio’s Community Manager, Deborah Ng, Insider interviews a member of the BlogTalkRadio team and one of our hosts each week. Learn what it’s like to work for our tech or host services department, or about the day in the live of a BTR staffer, or tune in to find out our hosts’ favorite equipment or traffic tips.

BlogTalkRadio Insider airs Thursdays at 4:00 p.m. EDT, and again, all episodes are available on demand for later listening.

BTR At the DNC

You know you’ve arrived as a major source for news and more when your hosts are invited to cover major events. BlogTalkRado is proud to announce a couple of our hosts attended and broadcasted from the Democratic National Convention in Denver this week. In addition to these broadcasts, many of our political hosts offered armchair coverage.

I’m pleased to bring you highlights of the DNC by our BlogTalkRadio hosts.

  • Shaun Daily has been broadcasting live from the DNC every day. To hear Shaun’s segments, interviews and perspectives listen to Live from the Event.
  • Nikki Starr, Media Lizzy and Shaun Daily are Rocking the Politics and this week the topic, of course, is the DNC.
  • The Clinton4McCain radio show is also featuring discussion and analysis from the convention.

I know many of our political talk show hosts had plenty to say about the 2008 Democratic National Convention. If I missed your segment, do feel free to share in the comments.

Rock on,

Deb

Kirk Cameron

Kirk Cameron

I found another great reason to listen to BlogTalkRadio! There is a development going up across the road! The peaceful farm with its tranquil view has since been replaced by tractors, backhoes, Bobcats and rising mini mansions. My home office faces the destruction and even with the windows closed the noise pollution is distraction. Thank you BlogTalkRadio for giving me intelligent discussions to listen to (Nikki Starr, I’m talking to you, hon!) and keeping me from losing my sanity.

I’m not exaggerating when I tell you we have some awesome programming today. I’m sure you’ll agree too! Check it out:

(All times EDT)

  • Kirk Cameron, that’s right Mike Seaver from the 80’s series Growing Pains, is all grown up and doing the family values things in a big way. (As you know, I’m all about finding good role models so that’s not a bad thing.) Kirk is visiting with Tamara Walker, the MomRN, to discuss his new film “Fireproof”. Tune in today at noon.
  • Comedienne Margaret Cho is visiting with Rico and Paulie on Fruit Salad tonight at 10:30 p.m.
  • Virginia Stanley, Director of Library Marketing at HarperCollins and Neal Wyatt, President of RUSA (Reference & User Services) at the American Library Association interview New York Times bestselling author Susan Elizabeth Phillips this afternoon at 3:00. Susan is the author  of the  “Natural Born Charmer” as well as numerous other romance novels including “Heaven Texas,” “It Had to be You” and “Lady Be Good.”
  • On BlogTalkRadio Today at 2:00 p.m.,Tim Castleman of the Drive 55 Conservation Project visits followed by  the latest headlines and gossip.

Don’t forget, all of our great programming is available on demand. Check out the On Air Schedule for a full listing of today’s BlogTalkRadio segments.

Nikki Rocks the Podcamp

Nikki Starr

Nikki Starr

BlogTalkRadio’s own Nikki Starr will be speaking at PodCamp Boston on Saturday July 19th. Her session is called “Becoming Part of the Conversation- Using a live podcast to allow your readers to ‘become part of the conversation'” and begins at 11:15 a.m. EST.

If you’re attending PodCamp Boston or in the area, do stop by and show your support. I can’t think of anyone more qualified to talk about how to engage listeners in conversation.

Knock ‘em dead, Nikki.
