Justin Guarini Goes Country – Opposite a Monkee

“Earl Scruggs is like Dukes of Hazzard getaway music!” Justin tells TV Guide of one of his favorite country stars.

Yeee-Hawww!

BlogTalkRadio’s own Justin Guarini goes head to head this Saturday with the likes of Monkee Micky Dolenz, 21 Jump Street‘s Ricard Grieco and – yes, the godfather of funk – George Clinton on Gone Country 3.

Naturally, you’ll want to tune into the CMT reality show – as the Season 1 American Idol runner-up will unveil his country-music chops for the first time ever (well, publicly, at least).

Justin tells today’s edition of TVGuide.com that “country singing is more pop than it has been in a long time.”

“[It’s] not necessarily the twangy phonographs your grandmother used to listen to. It really is pop music, and there’s a lot of crossover going on,” he says.

In addition to plugging his BlogTalkRadio show, the curly-topped crooner also dishes about Season 8 of American Idol:

“Hollywood Week is going to be filled with a lot more drama than we’re used to. There are rumors of the contestants being put in the same house again, so I wonder if they’re going to really pump up the drama.”
