Flashback to Nancy Cartwright: ‘Eat My Shorts’ Was Totally Mine!

A picture may be worth a thousand words, but a hot catchphrase can be measured in bucks—big bucks, as Nancy Cartwright pointed out to us.

Interviewed last month on Passions, the actress best known as the voice of Bart Simpson recalled how her character acquired his wildy popular retort, “Eat my shorts!”

“That was totally mine!” Nancy told host Beverly Malone—a classmate of hers at Ohio University.

“That came from high school. I was in the marching band. And we used to say, ‘Dun-dun-da-DUN-dun
—Fairmont West! Dun-dun-da-DUN-dun—Fairmont West!’

“But my senior year it changed to ‘Dun-dun-da-DUN-dun—Eat my shorts!’

“That was the drum cadence and we would march down to the stadium saying, ‘Eat my shorts! Eat my shorts!’

Harry will be on hand to talk about his new album, Songs of the Bushmen. If you are current with the news, you’ll know this album is causing a little controversy because of its anti-Bush message.

In addition to being one of the voices behind the long-running television series, The Simpsons, Harry Shearer has also appeared in numerous films including This is Spinal Tap, A Mighty Wind, Best in Show and so many more.

Veteran Actor and Tony Award Winner Joe Mantegna on BlogTalkRadio

With over 100 movies and TV shows to his credit, Mantegna has become one of those actors whose face may be more recognizable than his name.

His most current television appearances include The Starter Wife, for which he received an Emmy nomination, and Criminal Minds, in which he plays the intriguing David Rossi. His new film, Elvis & Anabelle, has been selected for screening at this year’s upcoming Sonoma Valley Film Festival. In this gothic love story set in West Texas, Mantegna portrays a brain-damaged mortician. Talk about versatile!

Other Emmy nominations earned by Mantegna are his supporting work in The Rat Pack (playing Dean Martin) and in The Last Don. International acclaim for Mantegna came in 1988 when he was named Best Actor of the Year for Things Change at the Venice Film Festival and in 1981 when he earned the London Critics Circle Actor of the Year Award for Homicide in 1991. Mantegna also won a Tony Award for Glengarry Glen Ross in 1984. Other memorable Mantegna films are Searching for Bobby Fisher, House of Games, Above Suspicion, Stateside, Bugsy, Up Close and Personal and The Godfather 3.
