‘Together we will meet the challenges of our time,’ says President-elect Obama in first video address

True to his promise of change, Barack Obama has taken to cyber- space to keep the American people up to date on the latest news from his incoming administration.

Every Saturday – in the tradition of Franklin Roosevelt’s “fireside chats” – the president-elect will deliver a four-minute address to the nation, which you can watch here on BlogTalkRadio.

I am more hopeful than ever before that America will rise once again.

"I am more hopeful than ever before that America will rise once again," says Obama.

Part of the administration’s effort to make the political process more transparent, these dispatches will continue weekly from the White House after Obama takes office in January.

Among the topics he tackles in his maiden address are the U.S. economic crisis and efforts to combat global climate change. Citing the fact that America has suffered 10 straight months of job losses, Obama says:

“Millions of our fellow citizens lie awake each night wondering how they’re going to pay their bills, stay in their homes, and save for retirement.”

He also vows not to repeat the sins of past administrations – which have thrust America to the brink of depression:

“If this financial crisis has taught us any- thing, it’s that we cannot have a thriving Wall Street while Main Street suffers,” says Obama.

“In this country, we rise or fall as one nation; as one people. And that is how we will meet the challenges of our time – together.”

Each week, BlogTalkRadio will carry Obama’s addresses. To see the first in this history-making series, from Nov. 15, click here.
