Film Festival Radio talks to the Voice contestants, part 2


Film Festival Radio host Janice Malone continues her conversations with NBC’s The Voice‘s advancing contestants. She begins by talking to contestant Tessanne Chin, who even before appearing on the show had a successful singing career in her native Jamaica. She credits reggae artist Shaggy, who she says takes an interest in young up-and-coming Jamaican artists, with encouraging her to audition for The Voice. They also discuss her experience as a backup singer for reggae legend Jimmy Cliff.

Ashley DuBose talks about her background studying mathematics and her coach Adam Levine’s tips for performing. Contestant Grey talks about the reasoning behind her mononymic name, a shortened version of the full Greylyn Paluszynsk, and the transition from performing in a wedding band to being a contestant on the show.

Matthew Schuler shares the advice given to him by coach Christina Aguilera, to get “alone time” with the material but not overtax himself, and his experience playing rugby.

Also interviewed are contestants Cole Vosbury, Monika Leigh, Ray Bordreaux, and E.G. Daily.
