Tavis announced today that, in partnership with the A. James Clark School of Engineering at the University of Maryland, he will be launching a $75,000 TS/UM Social Innovation Challenge to help address three key issues our society is facing today: hunger, education and sustainability. The 3 winners will be awarded $25,000 each and announced on The Tavis Smiley Network on BlogTalkRadio in early January 2014! Be sure to follow Tavis Talks to get more info and hear that special broadcast.
With this challenge, Tavis hopes to motivate aspiring entrepreneurs to develop feasible solutions for these areas of need and bring positive change to communities across America:
“Solutions to the many daunting problems facing the United States and the global community will come from a diversity of thinking in the areas of science, engineering and technology,” says Smiley. “I can think of no better way to invest in our collective well being than to invest in the minds of the future.”
Applications are due October 13th, 2013. For more information on the challenge and how to submit go to http://www.tavistalks.com/socialinnovator or follow the hashtag #socialinnovator on Twitter.
Congrats to host Tavis Smiley for launching such an impactful challenge!
