Today we launched a new service called Cinch. What is it? How about the easiest way to produce and syndicate a podcast. Or as Dave Winer called it, “The simplest podcast API ever.”
Introducing Cinch, the easiest way to produce and syndicate a podcast.
Using Cinch is simple:
- Call (646) 200-0000
- Talk
- Subscribe or use as the RSS feed as an API – http://cinch.blogtalkradio.com/YOURPHONENUMBER
We provide the network, storage and feed. What can you build on top of this service?
I like the idea of the service…it would be nice though if you could take any mention of your number out of the rss feed.
Thanks
Hey Jeff, That feature will be coming in the next few days as we implement the ability to create a username and pin number to address the concerns from people around the web. However, the core functionality will remain unchanged and users will not be required to register and create a username or pin to use the service.
On the API side of the house, you can see something I was able to create in about 30 minutes from my Cinch feed – http://croncast.com/cinchpub.rss . It’s a new feed without my phone number in it anywhere. I was also able to create a quick script that adds the Cinch messages as posts in my blog.
Neither of my scripts are groundbreaking, but they are uses of the feed as a simple API. We think that there are many applications that can use Cinch as a backbone. And when they start arriving we’ll make sure to share them.
How long does it takes to update the feed for the first recording? I thought I could talk and simply hanged up, but it takes a while before getting my first MP3…
hey kris
that is kool…how would i go about getting that setup for me? I dont mind not logging in just dont want my number showing up 🙂 let me know.

This is fun! Great product, guys!
Very cool, two questions;
1. Are there phone charges?
2. Doesn’t the audio quality sound like, well, a phone call?

How can I delete recordings from my personal feed so that they cannot be accessed by other users? Thanks for your reply.
why can’t I fast forward on my ipod, when i play a Blogtalk podcast. This has only started happening recently, when the advertisement has started. This doesn’t happen with other podcasts.
