This morning, we released a few nice improvements to BlogTalkRadio that we’d like to share.
Direct Connect
We’ve added a new feature to the Studio that we’re calling “Direct Connect.” Direct Connect is a new way for hosts to call in to the studio. We’re testing it out as an alternative to Skype. Hosts who have used it already have found this method delivers better sound quality. Try it on your next broadcast and let us know what you think.
Next time you enter the studio, you’ll see a new button next to the Skype button. Click this button to use Direct Connect to host your show.
Secure Login
Our login page page now uses SSL encryption every time you log into BlogTalkRadio. Most of you will see no difference when you log in. We just wanted to let you guys know that we’re vigilant in protecting your data and want you to be secure when connecting directly with your audience.
Bug Fixes
We also squashed a few bugs around social media connections and mixed in some design tweaks to the studio.
Enjoy!
thank you very much i usually bypass the sound issue by calling in with skype . but im going to be sure to test this tonite!
your best blogtalkradio host
chazzrazz.
Will be checking out these new goodies. Thanks for all that you do to make our stay here at Blogtalk Radio a successful and rewarding one.
Will try it out and let you know. Thanks for continuing to upgrade the quality!
With almost 1000 BTR broadcasts under my belt I can say I am qualified to comment on my experience with blogtalkradio.
The biggest draw is your virtual switchboard and ability to take incoming calls – EXCELLENT
The biggest deficit is the show quality. At 22,050 the quality is substandard. How about boosting to 44,100Hz. We need a 128 bit stereo quality broadcast like MIXLR.COM is delivering and I am willing to pay for it.
The existing quality is a shame to podcasting worldwide
Can you not offer better quality as an upgrade – people will pay for it.
Hi Bruce,
Thanks for the feedback and for being a part of the BTR community.
The ability to take live calls and interact with your audience in real time is truly unique. None of the other podcasting tools have that because we invented it. Now we’re working hard to invent something totally new. Higher quality audio will be just the beginning 🙂
xoxo

I used the direct connect on my show. my listeners said that it sounded like I was in a studio. I also listened to the broadcast for myself and I must say it did sound much better. Thanks BTR
