BlogTalkRadio Boosts Betty Jo Tucker’s Book to No. 1 on Kindle Chart

Before we get to the part where BlogTalkRadio helped rocket Betty Jo Tucker‘s book to the top spot on Kindle’s bestseller list, you need to know something about her.

Though by day she’s our mild-mannered host of Movie Addict Headquarters, chatting with such luminaries as Tony Curtis, Debbie Reynolds and Cloris Leachman, the Pueblo, Colo.-based film critic—who’s a mother of two, grandmother of seven and great-grandma of one—has got a slightly steamy sideline.ithadtobeus024

She’s a romance writer.

Actually, count her husband Larry in on that literary endeavor.

For in 2001 the couple, under the pseudonyms Harry and Elizabeth Lawrence, collaborated on a memoir titled It Had to Be Us, which tells the story of how they rediscovered their lost love nearly 20 years after being divorced and estranged.

“Filled with humor, emotion, suspense, and a surprising Las Vegas encounter,” goes the jacket blurb, “this heartfelt romantic memoir proves genuine love can survive any of life’s problems.”

It Had To Be Us won first place in the e-book category at the 2006 Hollywood Book Festival, while also earning a Psyche Award nomination and a five-heart review from The Romance Studio.

And last week it racked up another accolade. While Betty Jo’s publisher, Denise Cassino, was live on Movie Addict Headquarters talking up the Kindle release of It Had To Be Us, it shot from No. 6 to No. 2 in the divorce category. And about an hour after the show wrapped, it cruised to No. 1.

But do not think for one moment that Betty Jo, the former Dean of Humanities at San Diego Mesa College, is out promoting her work for the moolah.

“My husband and I are pleased to donate all royalties from It Had to Be Us to Dolly Parton‘s Imagination Library project”—a non-profit organization that promotes early childhood literacy—she tells us.

Now if that isn’t a happy ending, we don’t know what is.

Thanks for this wonderful post, Phil! My husband and I really appreciate it.
And we also appreciate the BTR listeners who purchased our little $5.99 Kindle book, including Mo from Morning Coffe and my co-host/producer Nikki Starr, who got the ball rolling. Special thanks to Denise Cassino for joining Movie Addict Headquarters to talk about our book launch on August 3rd as well as to Morgan Lawrence and Wacko Bob from Shiny Daze for helping to spread the word about this new expanded version of IT HAD TO BE US. I feel truly blessed to be a part of the BTR community. Finally, in the interest of full disclosure, I have to confess that my husband is a much better writer than I am, as everyone who’s read our romantic memoir already knows.

Congratulations BettyJo! I could not put the book down and I never wanted it to end. Thank you for sharing your journey. It was such a beautiful story.

It was great fun working with It Had to Be Us and the authors, Harry & Elizabeth, better known as Betty Jo & Larry Tucker on this bestseller launch. We had wonderful people supporting the project and loads of great comments. Yes, it’s true! After all our hard work of promoting this ebook on Kindle, it did actually shoot from #6 to #2 while we were discussing it on the BTR Movie Addict Headquarters show! Talk about a following! It’s a charming book and lots of fun, too! I can’t recommend it enough!
