Joe Jackson: It’s All About the Benjamins (and a Hearty Breakfast)

It’s good to know that Joe Jackson—who turns 81 next month—is making at least one concession to a healthy diet.

Interviewed on Film Festival Radio via phone from his Indiana hotel room last week, the Jackson family dad stopped in the middle of his chat to order breakfast.

"I'm ordering my food and talking on the radio!" Joe (above) laughed.

“Let me have one pancake, two eggs, summer sausage and sugar-free syrup,” he told room service—before adding, “And two strips of bacon.”

Moments earlier, however, when host Janice Malone asked Joe about his favorite composition by his son, Michael Jackson, he replied, “I like the Earth Song. [It’s] about saving the animals.”

Joe, who was in Janice’s hometown of Nashville this weekend for an appearance at the 1st Annual Metro City Women’s Forum & Expo, also discussed another of his superstar offspring— Continue reading

L.A. Mayor Villaraigosa: First Fix the Budget, then Grab the Governorship

Call him The Deficinator.

Los Angeles Mayor Antonio R. Villaraigosa may be out to succeed Arnold Schwarzenegger – but not before bailing out the City of Angels.

Interviewed Monday on BlogTalkRadio’s USMayorTime, live from from the 77th Annual Meeting of the United States Conference of Mayors, in Providence, R.I.,  Villaraigosa shared his thoughts on mounting a campaign for the California Governor’s seat.

"The city has given me much and I fee like I still got work to do," the mayor tells us of L.A.

"I love what I do," Mayor Villaraigosa (above) tells us of his current job.

That seat is currently occupied, of course, by “Governator” Schwarzenegger. But the one-time action hero’s second – and final – term ends in January 2011, meaning the race to Sacramento could get under way as soon as this fall.

“When you’re mayor of a city like mine – with a budget deficit – you gotta keep your eye on the ball,” Villaraigosa, 56, told host Tom Cochran.

“So my focus right now is on my job as mayor. I’ve said to people I’ll look at the issue of running for [governor] down the line. But not until we’ve appropriately handled the challenges that we’re facing here with this budget.

“So I’m hoping to get it behind us so we can look at the governorship.”

One issue that could hinder a trajectory to the state capital is the mayor’s relationship with Miss USA 1994, Lu Parker.

Parker: Hizzoner's current angel.

Parker: Hizzoner's current angel.

Still married to, though long separated from, wife Corina, Villaraigosa began getting cozy with Parker – now a news anchor with CW affiliate KTLA-TV in L.A. – three months ago.

“I don’t think it’s going to have any impact whatsoever,” the mayor told reporters last week of his liaison with the 36-year-old former beauty queen.

Nonetheless, say plotical pundits, the voting public may still be smarting from the 2007 revelation that Villaraigosa was then dating another local TV news anchor, Mirthala Salinas.

“It reminds people of naughty behavior, if you like,” Shawn Rosenberg, a political science professor at the University of California, recently told the L.A. Times.

“It would have less of an impact if it didn’t remind of other things.”

‘True Jackson’ Star Ashley Argota: ‘I’m a Workaholic and a Freak’

Though she turned sweet 16 in January, Ashley Argota won’t be calling anyone her beau anytime soon.

Interviewed on WZAP Radio, the cutie pie, who plays Lulu on the hit Nickelodeon series True Jackson, VP, says guys aren’t on her radar.

CAPTIONS: "I tend to shy away from guys - that's just me," Ashley (above) tells us.

"I tend to shy away from guys. That's just me," Ashley (above) tells us.

When host Zachary Sang asks, “Are you in a relationship right now?” Ashley replies:

“I am not. I am so not right now. I’m not even looking. I don’t have time.

“I’m so focused on school and work and stuff, and I’m having so much fun with that that it’s not even something that crosses my mind.”

When Zach presses on, asking “Why not?” the actress says:

“I don’t know. I guess I’m a workaholic and a freak.”

Ashley also weighs in on the questionable driving skills of co-star Keke Palmer – about whom fellow cast-member Matt Shively recently told Zach, “I would get in a car with her. But I can’t say I wouldn’t be afraid.”

“Keke has driven me around the set before, in the golf carts,” says Ashley.

“I’ve had a couple of close calls. I wasn’t there, but when she went to go to the cafeteria, I think she parked the cart sort of funky.

“So maybe I will let her drive me around town. But that’s a big maybe.”

Perez Hilton Dishes with Amber and Kelly!

In their quest to keep their scores of BlogTalkRadio listeners informed of all the latest A-lister dish, Amber Lee Ettinger and Kelly Brady welcome one of the gossip world’s most famous faces. Tonight on Access New York, the delicious duo chat with Perez Hilton.

Co-author of Red Carpet Suicide: A Survival Guide on Keeping up with the Hiltons, Perez tells Amber and Kelly why his new book “comes with a money-back guarantee”—and which celebs he loves most.

Perez: BFF (or just MF)?

Perez’s co-author, Life & Style News Editor Jared Shapiro, also joins the show to go behind the headlines of the new issue – which include Britney Spears, Jessica Alba and Halle Berry’s post-partum weight loss, and John Travolta’s tragic loss of his son Jett.

Billed as “the book celebrities have been looking forward to as much as their next DUI,” Red Carpet Suicide details how wannabe-celebs can follow in the footsteps of their favorite bold-faced names (or at least have a few laughs trying).

Amber and Kelly (did we agree to dub them “AmKel” yet?) have also got their trademark club report queued up.

This week’s pick?  Haven—whose clientele include Paris “I Need No Survival Guide” Hilton and the cast of the controversial series CW series Gossip Girl (which —c’mon —you know you love).

The midtown Manhattan hotspot, says CitySearch, is “enchanting . . . like the fantasy living room of a well-traveled friend, complete with trinkets from abroad.”
