Billy Idol: ‘I Was Definitely a Massive Drug Addict’

Call it a “white” divorce. Interviewed on Resiliency Radio, rocker Billy Idol comes clean about his less-than-clean-livng past.

When host—and Def Leppard drummer—Rick Allen tells the White Wedding singer, “You look fantastic, better than you did in the Rebel Yell days, in the early ‘80s,” he replies:

“We were both—well, I was definitely a massive drug addict. I don’t know how I’m here now. I’m very lucky.

“I was always on some sort of high-octane cocktail of drugs—which was fun, but I was killing myself by being so dangerous,” Billy adds.

“It took a long time getting over being such a drug addict. I had periods of jumping off the wagon for years. I’m still not completely sober or whatever today—not to say that I ever would be, I don’t think. But I’m certainly not on that cocktail of drugs I was on at one time.”
