Daily Highlights; August 11, 2010

stu-cook-5On Demand: On Long Live Rock Creedence Clearwater bassist Stu Cook recalls his first appearance on The Ed Sullivan Show. “Somebody in the production team comes over to us and he says, ‘We’ve gotta tell you that Ed goes out and drinks his dinner,’” the bassist tells us. “‘So all bets are off when we tape.’”

At 10 PM Buzzworthy Radio’s NaVell Lee gets up close and personal with Nancy Lee Grahn, who has been playing Alexis Davis on General Hospital since 1996. The Daytime Emmy Award winner will fill us in on what’s in store for her character in the coming months.

At 5 PM Bish Talk Radio’s Bre Sylvia hangs with Dondria— aka Phatfffat—the R&B cutie whose YouTube channel caught the eye of impresario Jermaine Dupri, who in turn signed her to his So So Def lable. Dondria will chat about her new, self-titled album, which drops Aug. 17.

At 3 PM Haunted 911 Radio’s Wayne Punter and Ray Jorden welcome parapsychologist Ciarán O’Keeffe from the cast of the hit British reality series Most Haunted. Dr. O’Keefe is also a senior advisor to London’s 148-year-old Ghost Club paranormal research organization.

At 6 PM Chris and Company’s Chris Bennett whoops it up with Cool TLC. The self-proclaimed “rapmedian”— who has shared the stage with such A-listers as Snoop Dogg, Eddie Griffin, Al Green and the late Bernie Mac—will strut his comic stuff tomorrow at The Cleveland Improv.

At 8 PM The Final Word hosts JayReelz and J.D. get busy with former Miami Dolphin Jim Jensen—who, during his 12 years on the team, played TE, QB, RB, FB and WR. Jim’s fearless style on the field (and off, as he’ll no doubt discuss) earned him the nickname “Crash.”

At 8 PM WDKK Radio’s Darryl Williams grooves with multi-platinum R&B artist Jeffrey Osborne, who began his career in 1969 with a group called Love Men Ltd., before going solo a decade later and charting with such hits as Love Power and On the Wings of Love

At 5 PM Red Velvet Media host Holly Stephey welcomes Grammy-winning engineer Dennis Ferrante, who has worked with A-listers from Elvis Presley to John Lennon. But now he needs a heart transplant, so his gifted pals—many of whom will be calling in—are banding together to help.

On Demand: Bish Talk Radio host Bre Sylvia hangs with singer-actress Drew Sidora, who made her name as Chantel on the Disney Channel series That’s So Raven and more recently played a fictionalized version of herself the CW dramedy The Game.

At noon Host Robin Milling hangs with The Dry Land star Ryan O’Nan and director Ryan Piers Williams, who were affectionately dubbed R2 and R1 on set, to avoid confusion. The new flick, co-starrring America Ferrera, tells the story of an Iraqi War vet suffering from post-traumatic stress syndrome.


At 5 PM Bish Talk Radio’s Bre Sylvia kicks it with QwanellQueMosley, who found fame upon being picked by Diddy in Making the Band 4, as a member of the R&B group Day 26. Que discuss will his recent Twitter proposal to squeeze Dawn Richard—and address rumors of an MTV reality show.


At 9 PM Go for It host Paul Gant goes one-on-one with Javis Dortch from Omarosa Stallworth’s new TV One reality series, Donald J. Trump Presents: The Ultimate Merger, which The Donald bills as “a mix between The Apprentice and The Bachelorette.”


At 8 PM The Final Word’s JayReelz and J.D. get busy with legendary NFL quarterback Earl Morrall, who—during his 21-season career—played for the 49ers, Steelers, Lions, Giants, Colts and Dolphins, while helping capture 3 Super Bowl rings.


At 8 PM Cynthia Loving—better known as R&B diva Lil’ Mo—drops in to discuss her collaborations with such A-listers as Missy Elliot, Ja Rule and Ol’Dirty Bastard. The Superwoman singer also explains why she’s so high on Beyoncé these days.

At 8 PM The Final Word’s JayReelz and J.D. get busy with Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Antwaan Randle El, who’ll weigh in on his team’s suspension of quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, which sprang from sexual-assault charges against him by a 20-year-old college student.


At 8 PM We All Be News welcomes investigative reporter Jerry Mitchell, whose work helping reopen Civil Rights Era cold cases was portrayed in the 1996 film—about the murder of Medgar EversGhosts of Mississippi. Jerry will discuss Willie McGee and other cases that merit “thawing out.”

At 4 PM Bish Talk Radio host Bre Sylvia kicks it with Vaughn “Mr. Everything” Anthony, whose older brother is R&B superstar John Legend. A budding R&B, funk and soul force in his own right, Vaughn will sample his latest tracks, including She Loves Me Not and In Your Shoes.

At 2 PM Gab with the Gurus Connie Bennett continues her Gratitude Week series, which focuses on optimism, love and empowerment, by sitting down with Rightsizing Your Life author Ciji Ware—who has been keeping her own “Gratitude List” for 2679 days.

At 6 PM Chris and Company’s Chris Bennett hangs with Cleveland native Antoinne McKinney, founder of Young A.D.U.L.T.S. (Adolescents Do Understand Life, Truth and Sex), which helps people ages 13 to 25 get on the road to adulthood by providing support, scholarships and other resources.
