It’s an Addictive Edition of ‘The Mix’

If you’re not already hooked on The Daily Mix – which, week in, week out delivers the best of BlogTalkRadio’s unmatched mix of social-radio programming – you’re sure to be very soon.

Because tonight’s edition of the show answers such all-important questions as:

—Why, on a recent episode of VH1’s Celebrity Rehab, Crazy Town frontman Shifty Binzer failed to return to the Sober House – and instead went to the house of a “crazy pill-popper.”

CAPTION: “Have a glass of wine, then imagine that everyone in the audience is crying and throwing up,” Eugene (above) advises a wannabe star on combating stage-fright.

—What made Suzanne Somers kick her habit of snacking incess- antly from crafts tables during her many years as a TV actress.

—How come – even though he says he’s now sober – Jeff Conaway still needs nightcap every now and then.

—Why Flight of the Conchords star Eugene Mirman advises against drug addiction.

—What funnyman Fred Willard’s secret – and surprising – addiction is.

—How Rush Limbaugh came to hear what Nightline host Terry Moran said about Barack Obama being the first president since George Washington to “take a step” down into the Oval office.

—Why one particular prank Drew Carey’s cast mates played on him – as recounted by the sitcom star’s on-screen squeeze, Jenica Bergere – gives new meaning to the term “addicted.”

So don’t miss The Mix, tonight – and every Monday – at 9 p.m. ET!

Fred Willard: Horror-Flick Fan? (Yes!)

When we think of Fred Willard, many terms come to mind.

“Jovial,” “jocular,” “jolly” – just to name the “J’s.”

Fred: frightfully funny.

Fred: frightfully funny.

Or, to use most every other letter in the alphabet, “amusing,” “child-like,” “comical,” “drole,” “gifted,” “gut-busting,” “hilarious,” “innocent,” “riotious,” “rollicking,” “sweet,” “sublime,” “side-splitting,” “uproarious” and “perpetually underrated.”

But one term that has never popped into our head is “horror fan.”

So we were tickled pink to learn that the legendary character actor – and veteran of such classic comedies as This is Spinal Tap, Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me, Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle, Waiting for Guffman and A Mighty Wind – enjoys good old-fashioned slasher flicks.

“I was at this party for Pixar [Animation Studios] the other night with [Curb Your Enthusiasm star] Jeff Garlin, he and his wife – we were having dinner – I started telling him that I love to go by myself to this one theater to see these horror films,” Fred tells Movie Addict Headquarters host Betty Jo Tucker.fridayposter

“I told him I went to see Friday the 13th and he just found that so amusing – that I would go by myself and sit in this big empty theater on a weeknight and watch Friday the 13th.

“So I just started describing the movie, and I said, ‘You won’t believe, Jason shot a bow-and-arrow that went across’ – you know, I was putting him on by this time. But I had never seen him laugh so hard.

“A lot of times I’ll say something that people think I’m serious and they’ll laugh at me.”

Fred can be seen live and in person next month as he takes on guest-host duties at Robert Osborne’s Fifth Annual Classic Film Festival in Athens, Georgia.
