The GEICO Caveman: ‘I Don’t Have GEICO Insurance’

Talk about biting the hand that feeds him!

Since 2004, John Lehr has played the caveman in those wildly popular GEICO Insurance commercials.

CAPTION: “Five years later, I’m still doing the spots. It’s crazy,” John (above) tells us of GEICO’s Caveman campaign.

But when it comes to cover- age for his own ride, he shops elsewhere.

Interviewed on The Humper Lust Show, the 43-year-old actor reveals his true feelings for the $9 billion insurance giant, which is owned by Warren Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway holding company.

“When I told my friends I was going to be interviewing you, every single one of them looked at me with a totally hesitant glance and said, ‘You better not be a p – – – -. You’d better tell him how much you hated those commercials,’” says host Brian Humphries.

“Well, listen, I’m glad they were such a huge success and that everybody liked them,” replies John, who also stars in the TBS sitcom 10 Items or Less.

“But to be honest, it was just a gig for me, and it’s a fun thing to do,” he continues.

“But, ah, put it this way: I don’t have GEICO insurance.”
