‘Mommy, You Look Like You’re Pregnant!’ Kathy Ireland’s Daughter Tells (Briefly) Tubby Supermodel

Fortysomething be damned, Kathy Ireland is still a stunner by any measure.

But like many of us struggling to balance the demands of work and family – to say nothing of navigating this Great Recession – the former Sports Illustrated cover girl recently neglected her wellness regimen and packed on a few extra pounds.

Twenty-five pounds, to be exact.

And this week on RadioWD’s Living Well Every Day, Kathy explains how her re- grettable scenario arose.

“As moms, we feel that responsibility of caring for our families. And frequently we just ignore our own needs.  We just feel selfish or guilty if we address them,” Kathy, 46, and a mother of three – who runs kathy ireland World Wide, a $1.4 billion design and marketing firm – tells host Jane Chesnutt.

“And this is something I’ve learned the hard way. One of my business partners called me out.

“He saw me guzzling coffee and scarfing down cookies at a business meeting and said, ‘Do you think you’re making the healthiest choices?'” she continues.

“And my attitude was a little bit defensive.

“But you know what? He was absolutely right.

“Our son was running around taking some photographs. He got a picture of me and kind of was chuckling a little bit.

“And our daughter, who is five, said, ‘Mommy, you look like you’re pregnant!'” adds Kathy, whose new book is titled Real Solutions for Busy Moms: Your Guide to Success and Sanity.

“And I said, ‘What are you talking about?’ And I took a look and when I looked at the photo, I had to take a good look in the mirror.kathy-irelands-real-solutions2

“Because I saw someone who was just overstressed.”
