H-h-h-h-h-heeeere’s Jay! ‘Stuttering John’ Melendez: ‘I Definitely Have a Job’ on Leno’s New Show

Well, that mystery’s cleared up.

Come September, former Tonight Show announcer “Stuttering John” Melendez will join boss Jay Leno in the lantern-jawed funnyman’s 10 p.m. slot.

How can we be certain?

Last night on Olivia Wilder Times, John told host Olivia Wilder in no uncertain terms that he’s still in Jay’s good graces.

“It hasn’t been defined. But I’m sure it will be soon,” John (above) tells us of his prime-time NBC gig.

“I definitely have a job. I’m not sure in what capacity the job will be,” he said of The Jay Leno Show, which debuts Sept. 17.

“I do a lot of things on the show. I do the warm-up, I write stuff, I’m in sketches and bits and I do the – I’m the announcer.

“I know I have a job. I’m just happy to be there.”

It wasn’t but nine weeks ago that John was anything but sure about his future at the Peacock Net.

During an appearance on Mr. Media in April – two months before Jay handed over The Tonight Show to Conan O’Brien – John had no idea if he’d still be employed by Jay.

“I don’t know yet. I haven’t heard yet,” John told host Bob Andelman.

“I’m assuming I’m going in some capacity – although assumptions aren’t always good. But I really do hope that I am.”

That in turn prompted John’s former boss, Howard Stern, on his Sirius Satellite show, to quip:

“I’m going to make an offer to John right now: If Jay doesn’t hire him back, he can stay in L.A. and ask questions, and we’ll hire him to go to some of those premieres and ask questions again.”

“He can do that. It’s a dollar for every question.”

‘Twilight’ Hottie: ‘I’m Looking for a Wife!’

The good news, ladies, is that you read our headline correctly:

One of the male leads from the smash-hit flick Twilight is looking to get hitched.

Justin: Knot-tying mindset.

Justin: Knot-tying mindset.

But before you pass out in a fit of ecstasty, we feel obliged to tell you that the would-be hubby isn’t star Robert Pattinson.

No, it’s Robert’s co-star, Justin Chon, who plays Eric Yorkie.

Still, he sounds like a great catch.

Having begun his career in the critically-acclaimed WB series Jack & Bobby, Justin went on to snag roles in the Disney Channel movie Wendy Wu: Homecoming Warrior and the Nickelodeon sitcom Just Jordan.

Even more impressive, he’ll be appearing opposite Harrison Ford next month in the feature film Crossing Over, which tells the story of illegal immigrants in Los Angeles struggling to get their green cards.

This week on Olivia Wilder Times, Justin tells our high priestess of entertainment journalism, Olivia Wilder, that he’s not only available, but open to meeting Miss Right.

“Currently, I’m single. Tell the girls on the station that I’m looking for a wife right now!” says the 27-year-old actor.

“If my perfect girl just showed up in front of me, I think I would just – yea, I think I’d marry her,” he adds.

Later on, Oliva asks, “What’s it like to have teenage girls going ga-ga over you?”

To which Justin replies: “I think it’s great – just as long as they don’t, like, do really weird stuff.”

Like if they were to come to my house and leave a box of dead rats in front of my door, I don’t know if I’d like that.”

Can’t say we blame you, Justin!

Earlier this week on Olivia Wilder Times, host Olivia Wilder was chatting with Nicholle Tom about the statuesque actress’ height when Nicholle mentioned her beau – who also stands 5-foot-7.

Intrigued, Olivia pressed Nicholle, 30, for a name and out it came: Paul McCarthy-Boyington.

TV fans know Paul from guest spots on such hit series as Alias, Crossing Jordan and The West Wing, but he’s also got a few feature films on the horizon.

Nice catch, Nicholle!
