BlogTalkRadio is Back From SXSW!

by Deb Ng

I just had the most amazing few days. I spent some time in the beautiful city of Austin, TX at the South by Southwest Interactive festival. To say the experience was a positive one is an understatement. I, along with BlogTalkRadio’s John Havens and Chris Hogan, spent time talking with some of the greatest folks on earth.

I wish to personally thank all of our hosts and listeners who stopped by the BlogTalkRadio pod at the Pepsico Podcasting Playground to tell us how much they enjoy what we do. Your support means so much to us. Meeting you face to face means even more.

I would also like to take this time to say “welcome aboard” to our new hosts, especially those of you who signed up after talking with us at SXSW.

A special shoutout to the folks at PepsiCo who provided us a unique place to interact with the community and broadcast live, and also to WalMart’s 11Moms.  You may know some of the 11Moms as BlogTalkRadio hosts. In person they are smart, savvy and delightful, and I enjoyed all the time I spent with them. I look forward to seeing you all again!  Another shout out to Chris Brogan for becoming a part of the BlogTalkRadio team for the weekend. It’s always a pleasure chatting with you.

I met community management folks from brands such as Best Buy Remix and we’re already brainstorming ways to bring our communities together. I was also able to pick the brains of the best minds in social media. I learned so much, I’m ready to burst.

Thank you South by Southwest, thank you Austin, thank you to the BlogTalkRadio community and a very special thank you to BlogTalkRadio for allowing me to attend this extraordinary event.

BlogTalkRadio is Broadcasting Live from SXSWi and Columbia University Journalism School Watchdog Conference

So, as you may have heard, BlogTalkRadio is attending a couple of conferences this weekend. Just because you can’t physically attend and meet us in person, doen’t mean you have to miss out on all the fun, however. Allow me to tell you how you can listen in and still feel like you’re there.

First, the Columbia University School of Journalism is hosting a watchdog conference. It is co-sponsored by the Open Society Institute, the Fund for Independence in Journalism, the Dart Center for Journalism and Trauma, and Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism, and yes, BlogTalkradio is there. If you’re in attendance, do say hi to our own Nikki Starr. If you’re only going to be there in spirit, you can listen live on BlogTalkRadio.

Also, as you may already be aware, John Havens will be broadcasting from the PepsiCo Podcasting Playground at SXSWi. John will be interviewing movers and shakers from the tech and social media world throughout the event – and by throughout I mean pretty much non-stop. Check out our SXSWi page for more details. We begin broadcasting late this afternoon. If you’re at SXSW, we want to meet you! If you’re not, at least you can listen in.
for more details.

Deb Ng Goes Beyond Blogging at SXSWi

Yesterday we told you about BlogTalkRadio’s partnership with PepsiCo, but in case you missed it: BlogTalkRadio will be broadcasting live from the Pepsi Podcasting Playground at SXSWi. Please see yesterday’s post for all the details.

We have more SXSWi news, however. BlogTalkRadio’s own Deborah Ng (that’s me, folks) will be leading a Core Conversation at SXSWi on Sunday afternoon. It’s not a full fledged panel, rather, it’s a discussion about the skills one learns as a blogger and how one can use those skills for realistic and lucrative career choices.

The Core Conversation, entitled “Beyond Blogging: Using Your Blogging Skills for Bigger and Better Things” will take place Sunday, March 15th at 5:00 p.m. at the Austin Convention Center. I hope you’ll stop by and say hello. If you’ll be at SXSWi and I don’t see you at the Conversation, please stop by and look for John Havens and I at the BlogTalkRadio booth at the PepsiCo Podcasting Playground.

Join BlogTalkRadio at SXSWi – At the PepsiCo Podcasting Playground!

This week begins one of the biggest interactive conferences of the year, South by Southwest.

South by Southwest or SXSW, is actually three different conferences – film, music and interactive. BlogTalkRadio is pleased to announce we’re attending the interactive event. In fact, BlogTalkRadio has partnered with PepsiCo to broadcast live from Pepsi’s Podcasting Playground in the Austin Convention Center.

BlogTalkRadio will be interviewing both interactive industry leaders and up and coming new media stars throughout the entire weekend. Not only will the interviews highlight PepsiCo’s focus on enabling social influences, but it will also bring to light new ideas coming from SXSWi.

What is the PepsiCo Podcasting Playground?

The PepsiCo Podcasting Playground is a special area in the Austin Convention Center  featuring four “pods” to allow podcasters a quiet, relaxed spot to host podcasts. BlogTalkRadio will be broadcasting live from the PepsiCo Podcasting Playground, and all interviews will also be live on our homepage.

When does is all go down?

The PepsiCo Podcasting Playground, and BlogTalkRadio’s live broadcasts, will take place before, during and after SXSWi. The Podcasting Playground will be open from Friday, March 13 through Tuesday, March 17th, from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. daily.

BlogTalkRadio will be podcasting beginning Friday evening, March 13th.

Stop by and Say “Hi”

If you’re attending SXSWi, I do hope you’ll stop by the BlogTalkRadio booth at the PepsiCo Podcasting Playground. It’s a great place to host your own BlogTalkRadio show, plus John Havens and I will be there to talk about BlogTalkRadio and meet the members of our community. We’re looking forward to this event and can’t wait to talk to you!
