Lightning Strikes Premiers African American Panel Discussion

Hosts Rod Amis and Christina Shideler are premiering their panel format today in what is sure to be an engaging conversation. Check out this guest list.

Today at 4pm ET on Lightning Strikes, the following prominent bloggers join the hosts to discuss general social issues as well as African American issues specifically.

Baratunde Thurston has been nominated for the Bill Hicks Award for Thought Provoking Comedy, featured in the New York Underground Comedy Festival and declared a Champion of the First Amendment by Iowa State University. He has appeared in media outlets such as C-SPAN, The Washington Times, public radio and Fox News Boston. His blog recently won the judge’s vote for the 2007 Black Weblog Awards.

Dr. Chris Bell, self-proclaimed “Black man, poet, essayist, educationist, novelist, retired army Major, Doctor of Education (ED.D.), and Unitarian Universalist.” He is also known for being one of the first black officers in the army after it was integrated under Truman.

Wayne Bennett is author of the Field Negro blog and various articles on child support and children’s issues. Mr. Bennett is currently involved with various community groups such as Philadelphia Reads, Boys and Girls Club of Philadelphia, and the Police Athletic League. He currently runs his own private legal practice focusing on criminal law.

Afronerd, blogger and host of the Afronerd Radio show on BlogTalkRadio, says his mission it to “debunk the ghetto-ized” image of African-Americans and defend the Black bourgeoisie.
