It sounds like Queen Latifah may have the patter of little feet in her sights.
Interviewed on The wOw Effect about her new book, Put on Your Crown: Life-Changing Moments on the Path to Queendom, the Grammy-winning Oscar and Emmy nominee chats about being raised by her mother, Rita Owens, in Newark, N.J.
“My mom actually has the best chapter in the book. You know, she was a teacher for over 25 years. She saved a lot of kids,” Latifah, whose latest flick, Just Wright—co-starring rap sensation Common— opened in May, tells host Julia Reed.
“As an adult, as a I looked back on how my mom raised us, I was so thoroughly impressed, and I figured if I can be just half the mother she is, I’ll be doing just fine.”
